Case Studies The information provided within the case studies is for use by professional advisers only and should not be relied upon by private investors. Working with Financial Advisers - a new SIPP A Partner at a firm of solicitors based in Kent had a client aged 38 who was “something in the City” earning very good money and looking to retire “as soon as possible”. The client wanted to invest his current and future pension savings into something that would give him access to a wide variety of investments – he had lots of contacts in the City who could apparently give him the latest “hot tips”. The Partner talked to Wolanski & Co. Trustees Limited’s Sales & Marketing Director, Ian Dawson, and discovered that the Inland Revenue’s list of “Permitted Investments” was certainly wide enough for his client’s requirements – as well as confirming that Wolanski & Co. Trustees Limited does not impose any restrictions of its own and is happy to deal with anything on that list. The Partner therefore suggested that his client take out a Wolanski & Co. SIPP because of the wide investment options and the competitive flat rate charges. The client decided to invest his money in a discretionary share portfolio and a hedge fund run by an old school friend of his, as well as keeping back some funds to run his own share portfolio via an on-line execution-only share service. He may also invest in some commercial property within the next year or so but is more likely to wait until after April 2006 and look at a buy-to-let residential property fund. |
